Extremely exciting two years, Maxfield continued his brilliant start to his career and won a stormy 8.5-furlong predecessor G1 race on the sand in Kinland, United States, on Saturday (October 5th).

The dowry belonging to Street Sense, winner of Brendan Walsh's first appearance at Churchill Downs on Saturday (September 14th), started a little late on the exit of the gate and remained in the last of the 10 participants before leading one place on the back track.

Maxfield managed to get around the group at the last turn and continued to run aggressively to clinch the lead at the head of the straight track. 1 minute 44.21 seconds on a fast ground.

Brendan Walsh said: "I knew that my first win in the first category would be a special occasion, but achieving that win for Godolphin makes it even more special.

"I thought Maxfield would probably need one or two entries to get out of the start-up circle, but we knew he was a very talented horse, overcame many odds in the first entry and came back from that in very good shape. A daunting task for a horse with only one participation.

"He is a very special horse, and I have already dealt with a large number of good horses, and distinctive horses have a different breath, and I believe that this horse from the clay of fine horses, and responds to every request, and shows the qualities of good horses in reality.

"Of course we will look at his condition after this race, but if he doesn't go to Breaders Cup, which horses will he go to?

"Maxfield is a great and very intelligent horse," said Jose Ortiz. He started late from the gate in the first post, was exposed to flying sand, finished the race at high speed, and today he did the same thing - he came out of the gate a bit late, relaxed a little, and when I asked him to progress, he was present with me all the time.

"It's an excellent training performance for coach Brendan as usual, and I highly appreciate the opportunity that coach and Godolphin have given me to lead this horse."
