Australia's Godolphin team won their 100th race under President James Cummings when Hunt starred and scored a convincing victory on Wednesday in the Village Stakes in Caulfield.

This victory is the seventh for the horse "Huntd", and the first in the level of classified races, and was a very exciting victory.

After splendidly jumping off the gates and positioned perfectly behind the leader, Huntd made his way firmly next to his opponent in the last 150 meters, but retained more momentum to surpass him and outperform him by half.

The victory followed a campaign launched by the horse at the same Caulfield track at 1,200 meters in April.

For coach Cummings, winning was a milestone and more important to him than it was to the horse.

The grandson of legendary Bart Cummings took over at Godolphin in July 2017 and scored a single victory in the Stakes that season, which ended two weeks later.

The following season his team won 23 major races before the 2018-2019 season, in which the Australian coach set a record 62 wins in seeded races including the G1 Golden Slipper Race by Kiamichi.

In the current season, which began on August 1, Cummings listed 14 winners in seeded races, including three in the G1 level, most recently on Saturday when Fleet clinched the 1,000 Guinness race in Caulfield.

Cummings described Huntd's victory and 99 other races as a tribute to the team and reflects the wonderful opportunities presented by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, founder and leader of Godolphin.

"This is a milestone and a source of pride for all Godolphin team members.

"We have a dedicated team that makes everything possible, without which these successes cannot take place.

"We also have a unique owner who provides us with unparalleled horses and facilities.

Hunt is likely to continue his campaign in Flemington during the Melbourne Cup week.
