Several-time winners in the G1 "Elysees" (Hugh Brown) are looking to regain their form at the start of their season when they face a strong elite of horses on Saturday at the G1 Darley Sprint Classic in Flemington.

Alizée scored the only victory of the season when she won her 1,200-meter debut at the G1 Messail Stakes at Rosehill in August.

Since then, she has finished third in the G1 Mimsy Stakes at 1,400 meters in Caulfield and has been out of competition for most of the 1,200 meters at The Everest in Randwick three weeks ago.

Cummings sent Elysee back to Melbourne to start her first straight-track debut, hoping the Persians would regain their former form.

Cummings said: "We are seeking to give her a quiet leadership here after losing by three lengths in the Everest.

"I walked a long way in that race and I was bold to finish the race with that margin.

"It would be great for Elysee to regain her usual final speed in her first straight six-furlong attempt in Flemington.

While Elysé is looking to reclaim its glamor, Santa Ana Lynn, one of Australia's premier speed horses, is also on track.

Second place in his last two races, including The Everest, makes Santa Ana Lane the horse to be defeated in the penultimate race at the Spring Carnival in Melbourne, which also includes the fast-paced runner Nature Strip. The last of the G1 Manicato Stakes is "Loving Glory".

Cummings is expected to perform very competitively from low-skilled Hilo (Damien Lane) and Nqpoint (Greg Williams) in the Springtime Stakes, as well as the winner of his recent participation in the Huntd (Kirin Air Condition) in the G3 Gotham Stakes.

"Hilo will be able to repeat his win here as he competes in a shorter distance despite his heavy weight," he said.

"He couldn't stand the mile when he led the competition from the start here last week and will be more consistent in his performance here.

"NQPoint" is a young dowry who is rapidly rising to higher levels but he seems promising to do so.

"His racing style suggests that he prefers the vast spaces available at Flemington Racecourse, especially with a 1,400 meter elevation.

"Huntd comes to the race on Saturday, preferring it to another race here on Tuesday.

Cummings said: "We kept him for this race instead of the race held earlier this week because we feel he is looking for 1,400 meters.

"We felt he needed more distance before winning his last appearance at Caulfield, and with the increase in distance he seems to be able to rise to the challenge.
